Active Daily Living Aid services

In HyMy Village's Active Daily Living Aid services, you will be met without haste and expertly by Metropolia University of Applied Sciences’ prosthetist-orthotist, physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy students. Our staff, who are health care professionals, are responsible for the services.

Our Active daily living aid services include services such as custom made supportive insoles, upper limb support, customized hobby aids and measurement services.

  • At the first visit, we will assess the need for assistive devices with you
  • First, we start our instructions and prepare an individual aid for you.
  • You can also get guidance on using the aid, additional information and further recommendations from us.
  • If necessary, we will schedule a follow-up visit for you.

Custom foot orthoses

Our podiatry students manufacture custom foot orthoses as a part of foot therapy. The tailored orthoses we offer are based on a thorough assessment of the client's functional capacity. We use various manufacturing techniques to ensure the perfect fit for you.

Upper limb support

Make an appointment for the first visit to the occupational or physiotherapy services if you need to purchase a wrist brace.

During the first visit:

  • we do an examination of your upper limb functionality
  • we will check together with you whether the Villa Manus products or individually manufactured solution would be the best solution for you
  • in addition we will assess the need for independent exercises and possible follow-up visits

For the needed upper limb aid or equipment for independent exercise, we charge a fee according to the price list of our joint partner Villa Manus.

Individual hobby aids

If you need hobby aids and cannot get a payment commitment, we are here to help. Our students carry out orders as project work. Our staff, who are health care professionals, are responsible for the projects.

Please note that

  • the cost estimate is based on the used materials in the product
  • the price includes an assessment, measurements, manufacturing of the product, intermediate adjustments, delivery of the product and instructions for use, as well as inspection.

Measurement services

We offer a variety of measurement services, including:

  • foot plantar pressure measurement
  • comparative measurement of lower limb prosthesis and lower limb orthosis components in our motion laboratory.
  • wheelchair seat surface pressure measurement
  • wheelchair balancing

All measurement services are conducted by our students under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

At HyMy Village, our main goal is to provide quality wellbeing and health services without haste and taking into account your individual situation.

Good to know

  • In HyMy-Village you are a client in a learning situation where our students practice, under the supervision of teachers, in addition to their professional skills, e.g. people-centered interaction with clients.
  • The research and rehabilitation plan made for you by our students is always checked and approved by the supervising teachers.
  • During your visit, in addition to the corresponding student, his or her student colleagues may be involved in observing the situation.
  • If you look younger than 13 years old, we will check your age, as under the age of 13 requires parental consent to participate in the activity.

Social and Patient Ombudsperson

The City of Helsinki organises the Social and Patient Ombudspersons' services for public and private health and social services.

Social and Patient Ombudsperson:

  • Advises and guides in matters related to the application of the Act on the Status and Rights of Social Welfare Clients, the Act on the Status and Rights of Patient and the Act on Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • Advises and, if necessary, assists the client, patient, or their legal representative in filing an objection.
  • Advises on the proper procedures and authorities for raising objections, filing complaints, handling patient injury matters, and claiming for damages, among other matters related to the patient's and client's legal rights in healthcare, social welfare, or early childhood education services.
  • Informs about the rights of clients and patients.
  • Gathers information about the contacts made by clients and patients and monitors the development of the rights and status of clients and patients.
  • Promotes the rights of clients and patients in other ways.

Insurance

Metropolia has a health insurance for patient injuries covered by the Patient Injury Act. Metropolia also has a general liability insurance for damages taking place in education. The terms and conditions of the liability insurance can be seen in HyMy Village.
