What are path studies?
Path studies are an alternative route to becoming a degree student. You will study the first-year studies together with the degree program group. After completion of path studies with good grades, you are welcome to apply to become a degree student through a separate application process. Please note that completing the path studies does not automatically guarantee admission as a degree student in a separate application process.
To whom are path studies suitable?
Path studies are right for you, if
- your goal is a study right in a degree programme,
- you want to take advantage of the intermediate year by studying purposefully,
- you are ready for full-time studies and/or
- you want to try to study at the University of Applied Sciences.
Content of European Business Administration path studies
European Business Administration (EBA) is a double-degree programme. This means that if you apply and get accepted as a degree student, you will study for two years in Finland and spend a full academic year at one of our EBA partner universities. When you successfully complete the requirements of both institutions, you will graduate with two Bachelor degrees: one from Metropolia UAS and the other from our partner institution. This gives you a clear competitive edge in the job market!
The European Business Administration path studies consist of 60 credits of basic business studies. The path studies are carried out together with our degree students, from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Language Skills
A minimum of B2 level English language skills are highly recommended in English language degree programmes. University of Applied Sciences studies require sufficient language skills and students are independently responsible of having such skills.
You can use the Dialang language test as a self-assessment tool to evaluate if your skills are sufficient to University of Applied Sciences level. The test includes the following sections of different fields of language skills: reading, listening, writing, vocabulary, and grammar.
Study Skills
Open UAS students are required to have the same university-level study skills as the Degree Students. Students themselves are responsible for having these skills. These skills include e.g. information searching skills and preparedness to write an essay answer. Usually, a secondary-level education (high school, vocational school) gives a good base for university-level studies.

Enrollment
Enrollment is done by clicking "Add to basket". You can enroll or accept a place from only one path. Enrollment is open from 5th August at 10:00 am until 6th August 2024 at 23:59 pm. All eligible applicants will be invited to an interview on Friday 9th or Monday 12th of August between 9.30-17. Interviews are conducted over Zoom, 30 min per applicant.

How to start path studies at Metropolia
Welcome to study path studies at Metropolia!
Read below all the common instructions for Metropolia's path students as well as the instructions for your own group.
When you start as a new student at Metropolia, you need to activate your user ID. Activate your user ID by using Netbank User ID or Mobile Certificate, or by using activation password. See instructions how to activate you user ID.
If you have enrolled for Open UAS studies without using strong identification, you must visit the Student and Admission Services customer service point for strong identification. Only after that, you can activate your user ID.
You will receive your study schedules at the beginning of the studies. You can use the Schedule Machine to see the up-to-date schedules. You can also check the schedules in Tuudo app.
Open UAS students do not enrol for the courses themselves but you have already been registered for the courses.
Communications concerning your studies takes place in OMA intranet workspaces and in your Metropolia e-mail, which you can use once you activate your user account. Please follow actively your metropolia.fi email! You can access your e-mail at mail.metropolia.fi.
Lecturers mostly send their messages through the courses' OMA workspaces. If other learning management platforms are used, such as Moodle, the lecturer will inform you of this. Please also read the general announcements on Metropolia's OMA intranet.
Metropolia has arranged a separate meal benefit for Open Path students because Open UAS students are not entitled to the degree students’ meal subsidy.
The price of the meal is restaurant-specific. The meal benefit is not applicable at Arabia campus.
Tuudo mobile app’s student card or meal certificate, which you can either pick up at the Student and Admission Services customer service point or order by e-mail from studentservices [at] metropolia.fi (studentservices[at]metropolia[dot]fi) at the beginning of your studies, entitles to a meal benefit.
If you have selected invoicing as the payment method for your studies, the studies will be invoiced in two installments. The first invoice is sent at the beginning of the studies and the second invoice four months after the start of the studies.

If you wish to complete other studies in addition to those in your study path or module, you can enroll for the Open UAS courses in the enrollment system. Please make sure that your additional studies do not overlap with the studies included in the path or module.
Path students are also entitled to complete some of the CampusOnline.fi courses offered by other universities of applied sciences.
After completing Open UAS path studies, you can apply for a degree programme on the basis of Metropolia’s Open UAS Studies.

How to start European Business Administration path studies
Welcome to study European Business Administration path studies at Metropolia!
Your program code is LXA24S1.
The studies will start with orientation days on Monday 19th August at 9 a.m. in Myyrmäki campus, Vantaa. During the orientation days 19.-20.8.2024 we get to know different practical aspects of the studies.
Your presence at the orientation days is essential.
You can expect the orientation days to be over at 17:00 at the latest.
Direct recognition of prior learning is not possible at the Open UAS. Instead, studies are recognised using pedagogic solutions, in which case the student demonstrates his or her competence in the manner specified by the lecturer. The RPL process is identical with the degree students. More information is given by the lecturer of the course in question or your Student Advisor.
RPL process does not entitle to a refund of fees.
