The master's studies in midwifery development focus on the development of sexual and reproductive health services in close cooperation with health and social services, working life and other domestic and international networks. The studies are carried out together with Tampere University of Applied Sciences. Midwives with a bachelor's degree or secondary education and at least two years of work experience can apply for the studies. Contact studies are mainly conducted in Finnish and partly in English. Most of the study material is in English.

Scope and Structure of Studies

The scope of the degree is 90 credit points (ECTS), and one credit corresponds to approximately 27 working hours. The degree can be completed in 1,5-2 years.

The curriculum is divided into sexual and reproductive health specialization studies of 30 credit points, compulsory specialization studies of 20 credit points, such as leadership and research methods, and optional studies of 10 credit points. In addition, the scope of the master's thesis is 30 credit points. The thesis is usually done in close cooperation with working life.
