AV UP – New Skills for the AV Industry project (ESR+ 2024–2026) strengthens the expertise of the sector and supports the growth needs of productions.
The AV industry is highly seasonal, and certain roles occasionally face a shortage of workforce. Rapid technological development, a fragmented operational field, and partially uncoordinated collaboration between educational institutions and employers characterize the industry. The AV industry has growth potential, but the operating conditions vary across different regions in Finland.
AV UP stems from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (TEM) and the Ministry of Education and Culture's roadmap for the Creative Economy and the Growth Agreement for the AV Industry. The project is coordinated by Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK). Partners include Tampere Vocational College Tredu, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Turku Vocational Institute, Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, and Omnia, the Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo Region.
The project network involves a wide range of local and national stakeholders and companies. The ESR+ project is part of the projects focusing on innovation and expertise in the Creative and Cultural Industries, managed by the Häme Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
In the AV UP project, anticipation, education, and collaboration between educational institutions and the workforce are developed. AV UP commits educational institutions and stakeholders in the sector to a nationwide education service model. New continuous learning methods are tested through pilots. The target audience of the project includes professionals in the AV industry whose expertise needs updating. Additionally, the focus is on companies operating in the AV industry with workforce and expertise needs. The target audience also includes those changing careers or individuals orienting themselves towards the AV industry. After the project, AV industry educators, stakeholders, professionals, and workers will have a unified understanding of future needs in the workforce.
