Who are you and what are you studying?
My name is James Penalosa. I have lived in 3 countries and 3 continents. Born and raised in Manila, worked and lived in Singapore and United States.
Currently, I’m taking Master's Degree Program in Business Informatics at Myyrmäki campus which started August 2023.
How did you end up studying Business Informatics? What is your dream career?
I applied for Business Informatics program to reinvent myself and be equipped with the cutting-edge technology learning in deepening managerial skills with use of business information systems.
My inspiration is my family. This new journey is not for myself but for those whom I love too.

What is your favorite place in campus? How about in Helsinki?
My favorite spot at Myyrmäki campus would be the mezzanine lobby overlooking the lower lobby and the cafeteria. Every time I pass by it brings me to some sort of excitement and energy of a student life. The high ceilings and its glass roof design makes the vibrance modern and trendy.
In Helsinki, I would say the Esplanadi! The park may be smaller in size compared to other national parks but the relaxing atmosphere there at sunset is gorgeous!
What do you do in your free time?
Cooking is part of my passion. I do love reinvention in food. It feels adventurous every time I will add new ingredient or making a version of my own in every menu that I make.
