Athlete's Metropolia

Metropolia supports a competitive or elite athlete in a dual career. It is possible to combine goal-oriented sport and studies!

For each competitive or elite athlete student, a study plan that supports their athletic career is developed. The impact of the training and competition schedule on the studies is taken into account.

You can apply through a joint application process, your studies will be planned together, taking into account the requirements of your goal-oriented athletic career.

You can also apply through the Metropolia Open University of Applied Sciences Athlete's path studies from autumn term 2024 onwards.

This is an excellent opportunity for you who

• are not sure about your future career
• are not yet ready to commit to a degree program because of your athletic career
• want to become a degree student.

For the student

Each student athlete's situation is unique, so it is important that you bring up your specific needs, whether they relate to the arrangements for training periods included in your studies, absences due to training camps or other practical issues.

At Metropolia you will be supported by:

• Paula, Metropolia's Urhea-Contact, paula.lindqvist [at] metropolia.fi (paula[dot]lindqvist[at]metropolia[dot]fi)
• tutor teacher from your degree
• HOPS advisor or career counsellor
• course teachers
• a study counselor or programme coordinator in your field of study

Students with a competitive and/or elite sports background and belonging to the Metropolitan Sports Academy Urhea can complete the course "Student's competitive sports activities, Opiskelijan kilpaurheilutoiminta" as part of their elective studies.
