More than 2 100 graduates are celebrated at Metropolia's Spring 2024 graduation ceremonies

More than 2 100 graduating students from the fields of culture, business, social and health care and technology will be celebrated at Metropolia's spring 2024 graduation ceremonies. Graduation ceremonies are celebrated with graduating students and their loved ones on three different graduation dates on Metropolia's campuses.

In spring 2024, 2 128 students will graduate from Metropolia, of which 1 745 will have completed a bachelor's degree and 383 a master's degree. The first graduation ceremonies were held on 31st of May on the Arabia and Myllypuro campuses, and the next ceremonies will be held on 11th of June on the Myllypuro campus and 18th of June on the Myyrmäki campus.

For many people, graduation is one of life's biggest milestones, and at its best, you can get much more out of your studies than just a degree. Lilja Nikkilä, who graduated as an industrial designer, talks about the meaningfulness of her studies and the thoughts her graduation evokes:

"When I came to Metropolia, I was pretty lost in my life. I thought I liked to create things, and that is why I applied to study design. While at Metropolia, I found my true calling, which is to design different things for people. Studying here has also made me realize how big of a responsibility designers have towards the world around them."

Lilja Nikkilä was awarded the Campus Diploma for her exemplary work for the campus community, especially in piloting and developing student-led exhibitions. She describes the atmosphere on graduation day as wonderful and the Campus Diploma as the highlight of it all.

"Congratulations to all the graduates! I would like to encourage the people starting their studies to hold on to their values and rights, and to make sure that their industry remains a good, safe and accessible place for everyone to work," adds Nikkilä.

In spring 2024, more than 900 new graduates in the field of technology and more than 700 new graduates in the field of social services and healthcare will graduate from Metropolia. Around 250 students have completed a degree in culture and around 200 students have completed a degree in business studies. The number of graduates with master's degrees has increased since spring 2023.
