Metropolia's first Alumni Cafe was organized September 11, 2024 at the Arabia campus. Arts Promotion Center's Special Advisor Antti Huntus lectured on the topic The role of culture in the sustainability crisis - problem or part of the solution? The role of culture was discussed through, among other things, the UN's sustainable development goals and recent cultural unrest.
The lecture was also part of the program of Metropolia's Helsinki Design Week. In the beginning of the lecture, Metropolia's alumni activities were briefly explained. The lecture was followed by alumni and culture students on site and via stream. The inspiring lecture was also available on YouTube two weeks after the presentation.
Metropolia's second Alumni Café was organized online by the School of Business and School of ICT on 23 October 2024. Business alumni and current Metropolia´s specialist Natasa Anttila talked about "Digital security - what kind of digital security skills should tomorrow's alumni have?
During her talk, Natasa Anttila elaborated her career story and her experiences with information security during her career. She clarified concepts related to information security: there are digital security, cyber security, information security and data protection. All these aim at protecting our basic security. Natasa stated that in the digital world even the best means of protection do not bring complete security, but the digital world requires everyone to be constantly alert, manage risks and have a tolerance for risks. Artificial intelligence increases speed and dangers, but also brings protection.
Natasa Anttila also presented the upcoming national cybersecurity development project, in which Metropolia is involved. At the end of the Alumni Cafe, there was time for discussion.
