Who are you and what are you studying?
Hi, my name is Tong, I come from China. I’m studying for a Bachelor of Healthcare, majoring in Nursing. I began my studies in January 2023 as part of the TOKASA program, which combines Finnish language study and Nursing professional study over 3.5 years.
How did you end up studying in the TOKASA program? What is your dream career?
I was drawn to it because we get to dive into real clinical practice right from the first semester. This program supports me in studying Finnish, which is essential for working in real-life situations in Finland.
With the aging demographic and the increased demands in the nursing field, my career goal is to work in public health field, primarily focusing on disease prevention and health promotion in the community.
What inspires you in your studies in Metropolia?
The Metropolia experience is enriched by the expertise of our instructors and guest professionals. Yet, it’s not confined to the classroom alone. Here at Metropolia, we benefit from a variety of support services, including study and career counseling, student union activities, and facilities for physical and mental well-being.
What is your favorite place in campus?
The 3rd-floor study area on campus is where I often find myself. It offers a perfect blend of work and leisure with computers, a TV, adjustable tables, and even a walking machine. This is my go-to spot for productive study sessions and group discussions, complemented by some physical activity.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I adore the lush forests of Helsinki, often taking leisurely walks in these natural havens and exploring national parks.
