Do you wish to play an instrument?

Metropolia University of Applied Sciences provides an opportunity to study music as a pedagogue student under the instruction of an undergraduate studying to become a Music Educator.

Who will be the teacher?

Students at the Degree Programmes of Classical and Pop and Jazz Music are studying to become Music Educators (Bachelor of Culture and Arts). They have a teacher training period during their studies and they give lessons in various musical instruments and in singing. The training is supervised by the Lecturers of the Degree Programmes.

Application period

The application period is always in June-August. You can find the application form on the Finnish page during the application period.

Semesters are preliminarily scheduled for weeks 37 -  50.  13 weeks each semester. Duration for one lesson is 45 minutes. The accepted applicants will receive more detailed information about the schedules and the lessons in September.

How much does the instruction cost?

The tuition fee for personal instruction in classical music is 220 € per each semester (the basic fee is 100 € and 120 € for individual teaching payment). Group lessons are 160 € and theory or a band 145 €.

Entrance qualifications

Pedagogy students can either be beginners or advanced students. The suitability for musical education will be considered. There is no age limit for applicants. We accept the students for one semester at the time. Usually we can provide the place for the whole academic year.

If one applies to singing or to guitar lessons, we have an audition. These applicants will get more information on email of the audition day and time schedule.
